Lahore High Court has ordered to stop construction of Orange Line Metro Train project within 200 fit limit around historical buildings and places while the court has also instructed to form committee to review effects of the construction on historical buildings.
The LHC announced verdict on all cases regarding Orange Line Train Projects. The two-member bench comprising Justice Abid Aziz Shiekh and Justice Shahid Karim issued written verdict contained on 83 pages.
In the verdict, the court nullifying NOC and revised NOC issued on Nov 16 and Nov 20 respectively saying that no construction is allowed in the range of 200 fit of historical building and places. In the verdict the court ordering to issue new N.O.C and said that a committee be setup comprising Director General Archeology and experts of international fame.
The court in its verdict further said that it will be better to form the committee with the consultation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) besides that the court also instructed to intact environment department report of May 7 2016.
