PAF successfully tests indigenous taimoor weapon system

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has carried out a successful flight test of the locally developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a significant step forward in strengthening Pakistan’s aerospace and defence capabilities.

According to a statement released by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile can accurately strike land and maritime targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometres while carrying a conventional payload.

The missile is fitted with advanced navigation and guidance technology and is designed to operate at extremely low altitudes, allowing it to bypass enemy air and missile defence networks effectively.

ISPR stated that the precision and extended range of the weapon greatly enhance the Pakistan Air Force’s conventional deterrence and operational versatility, contributing to a stronger overall defence framework.

The successful test highlights the growing technological expertise, innovation, and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry. Senior officials from the Pakistan Armed Forces, along with scientists and engineers involved in the project, observed the launch.

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers, and PAF personnel on the achievement, praising their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to national defence. He emphasized that such progress reflects Pakistan’s determination to achieve technological independence and maintain a credible conventional deterrent amid evolving regional security dynamics.

ISPR further noted that the test demonstrates the PAF’s continued focus on operational preparedness, technological advancement, and safeguarding national security.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also extended his congratulations to the nation and the Pakistan Air Force, describing the successful test as a major milestone toward reinforcing the country’s defence capabilities.
