RAWALPINDI: On Monday, the Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a test flight of an indigenously developed ship-launched ballistic missile, as announced by the navy’s Director General Public Relations (DGPR).
The missile, which boasts a range of 350 kilometers, is designed to engage both land and sea targets with high precision. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation system and advanced maneuverability features.
The flight test was observed by the Chief of Naval Staff, along with senior officers from the Pakistan Navy and dedicated scientists and engineers involved in the project.
Following the successful test, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and other services chiefs extended their congratulations to the scientists and engineers who contributed to this achievement.
The test came on the heels of a successful firing of surface-to-air FN-6 missiles by the Pakistan Navy earlier in July, demonstrating its ground-based air defense capabilities. During that exercise, the navy’s ground-based air defense (GBAD) system effectively engaged airborne targets, showcasing its firepower.
In addition to securing the nation’s maritime borders, the Pakistan Navy is actively contributing to regional security. Notably, it deployed its warship PNS ASLAT to the Indian Ocean in May to ensure the safety of merchant vessels operating in the region
