WEB DESK: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has emphasized the significance of the proposed Pak-Afghan discussions scheduled to take place in Doha.
Sharing his views on the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, he stressed that both nations need to establish clear and lasting principles for coexistence. He highlighted that geography is an unchangeable reality.
Addressing the fluctuations in the history of Pak-Afghan ties, Khawaja Saad Rafique pointed out the shared cultural and linguistic heritage, noting that millions of Muslims connected by these bonds reside on both sides of the border.
He commented on Afghanistan’s relationship with India, emphasizing that while Afghanistan can sustain friendly ties with other nations, it should not come at the expense of Pakistan’s security. He cautioned that Islamabad has a responsibility to ensure Afghanistan ceases exporting armed extremists.
The PML-N leader also underscored Pakistan’s ongoing support for Afghanistan, pointing out that Pakistan supplies grain, essential goods, and other aid to its neighbor. In exchange, he stressed, Afghanistan must uphold respect for Pakistan’s security and refrain from actions that could jeopardize peace.
