BRUSSELS: In a high-level meeting on Friday, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi discussed enhanced security cooperation with Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin, focusing on curbing illegal immigration and boosting joint security initiatives.
The two officials engaged in comprehensive talks on shared concerns, emphasizing the importance of dismantling migrant smuggling networks. They also underscored their commitment to broadening bilateral efforts to combat illegal migration.
Discussions extended to cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, narcotics control, and the development of joint training programs for paramilitary forces. Naqvi highlighted the need for a unified international approach, urging the global community to adopt coordinated strategies to address illegal immigration effectively.
He also reassured that Pakistan has already implemented robust measures to tackle these issues. Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Quintin commended Pakistan’s accomplishments in fighting terrorism and curbing illegal migration, noting that the country serves as a regional leader and a role model for the international community.
The meeting was attended by Pakistani diplomats based in Brussels and senior officials from Belgium’s Interior Ministry.
