ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada have reiterated their dedication to enhancing economic partnership and maintaining robust bilateral communication. This development followed a conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, as disclosed by the Foreign Office.
During the exchange, the two officials explored avenues to boost trade and investment across pivotal sectors such as agriculture, mining, and minerals. They underscored the potential of the Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPPA) to encourage stable, long-term investments while cultivating a favorable business atmosphere.
Dar acknowledged Canada’s role in granting market access for Canadian canola exports to Pakistan. Both nations committed to identifying further strategies to expand trade ties, increase investment opportunities, and promote economic advancement for mutual benefit.
The discussion also highlighted the necessity of sustained dialogue and collaboration to foster joint initiatives. Areas such as technology transfer, joint ventures, and the strengthening of regulatory frameworks aimed at supporting investors and entrepreneurs were deliberated as part of their shared vision for progress.
