WEB DESK: Pakistani Customs authorities have successfully seized a significant stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and a vehicle during an operation in Sidra Sharif. The total value of the recovered items is estimated at Rs.32 million.
The seizure was carried out by Customs Enforcement officials at JCP Yarik after receiving credible intelligence. During the operation, the authorities intercepted a vehicle, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and managed to escape before authorities could apprehend him.
The confiscated arms include four USA-made M4 (5.56mm) rifles, two G-III rifles with magazines, 42 Maghull PMAG D-60 magazines, 20 empty M4 magazines, 40 empty AK-47 magazines, 18 Turkish Tissa Zigara pistols with two magazines each, 30 Beretta pistols (including 25 from the USA and 5 from Italy), two unmarked shotguns, and 120 Chinese-made 30-bore pistols.
The ammunition recovered consists of 900 rounds for AK-47 (711/10), 2,700 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 3,500 rounds for 30-bore pistols, and 1,600 Pak Shaheen 12-bore cartridges.
All confiscated items, including the vehicle, have been taken into official custody. Legal actions are currently underway under relevant laws, and authorities are actively pursuing efforts to identify and apprehend the driver who fled the scene.
