Pakistan delivered U.S. Proposal to Iran as potential talks venue considered

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reportedly delivered a proposal from the United States to Iran, a senior Iranian source told Reuters on Wednesday, ahead of possible negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war.

The confidential source, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue, did not reveal the specifics of the proposal, nor whether it was the 15-point U.S. framework previously reported by international media.

Meanwhile, Turkiye is assisting in exploring avenues for peace, with officials indicating that either Pakistan or Turkiye could host potential talks between Tehran and Washington.

For Islamabad, the threat of the conflict in Iran spilling over its borders is a top concern, analysts and security officials say. The ongoing war, which began on February 28 following a U.S.-Israeli operation in Iran, has already affected Pakistan, contributing to fuel shortages and adding pressure to an already complex security landscape shaped by the Afghan Taliban insurgency.

This development follows reports by the Financial Times suggesting that Pakistan is positioning itself as a key mediator, aiming to play a leading role in brokering a ceasefire and negotiations between the warring parties.
