Pakistan denies Afghan Taliban’s allegations of involvement in Badakhshan violence

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly denied the Afghan Taliban’s unfounded accusations that Pakistani forces are involved in supporting or participating in clashes in Badakhshan.

In an interview with Aamaj News, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed that Pakistani authorities are actively engaged in the recent violence in Badakhshan.

The Pakistani Ministry of Information responded via a statement on X, stating, “These claims are completely unfounded. No credible proof has been presented to support such false allegations.”

The ministry emphasized that the unrest in Badakhshan is rooted in Afghanistan’s internal security issues and governance challenges, not any interference from Pakistan.

It further noted that independent reports have characterized the clashes as part of an internal struggle against the Taliban’s governance, which has been marked by exclusion and repression, without any indication of Pakistani involvement.

Pakistan reiterated its longstanding stance of supporting a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, stressing that it has no interest in destabilizing its neighbor.

“The Taliban government should focus on addressing the internal issues that are causing instability, rather than blaming Pakistan without evidence. Unsubstantiated claims do not replace facts,” the statement concluded.
