Pakistan does not engage in covert strikes, states the DG ISPR.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan firmly maintains that it does not engage in covert operations or harbor any hostility towards the Afghan people, focusing exclusively on countering terrorism, stated the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

During a briefing with senior journalists on Tuesday, the military spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan consistently declares its actions openly and refrains from differentiating between militant groups. He underlined that, in Pakistan’s perspective, there is no distinction between “good” or “bad” Taliban as all terrorists are considered equal. Furthermore, Pakistan unequivocally avoids targeting civilian populations in its operations.

Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif clarified Pakistan’s stance, stressing that the country’s struggle is not directed at the Afghan population but rather focused entirely on combating terrorism.

Addressing a question about legal proceedings involving former ISI chief Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, the DG ISPR noted that the matter is strictly legal and called for avoiding speculation. He assured that once the case concludes, the outcome will be disclosed promptly.
