Pakistan eliminate from the semi-final race

Kolkata: Pakistan has been eliminated from the race for the ICC World Cup 2023 and now there is no chance of them playing the semi-finals

In the 44th match of the World Cup 2023, England has given Pakistan a target of 338 runs to win, Pakistan had to achieve this target in 6.4 overs to reach the semi-finals, but so far Pakistan has scored 37 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 8 overs.

This match between the two teams was being played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, where England won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistan.

The English team scored 337 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

England’s first wicket fell on 82 runs, Iftikhar Ahmed dismissed David Mullan for 31 runs, then Haris Rauf sent Jonny Bearstow back for 59 runs.

Ben Stokes played an innings of 84 runs, he was bowled by Shaheen Afridi, Jurot got out after scoring 60 runs, Harry Brook scored 30 runs and Jos Buttler scored 27 runs, Moeen Ali could score 8 runs.

On behalf of Pakistan, Haris Rauf got 3 wickets, Mohammad Wasim got 3 wickets, Shaheen Afridi got 2 wickets and Iftikhar Ahmed got one wicket. 

Speaking on the occasion of the toss, Pakistan team captain Babar Azam said that the intention was to bat first after winning the toss, there was a change in the team, Shadab Khan has been replaced by Hasan Ali. 

This was the last match of both the teams in the first phase of the World Cup, both Pakistan and England have played eight eight matches so far, Pakistan has won 4 of their matches and England has won 2 of their matches. 

Pakistan was fifth and England was seventh on the points table
