KARACHI: Pakistan and the European Investment Bank have formalized their partnership to push forward the Karachi sewage water project through a new declaration.
The agreement was signed today in Brussels during the 15th Pak-EU Joint Commission meeting, marking a step toward securing European funding for the Karachi Water Infrastructure Framework initiative, which focuses on enhancing sewage and wastewater management in the city.
This initiative aims to greatly improve access to clean water and bolster water security for Karachi’s fast-growing population. It underscores Pakistan’s dedication to upgrading urban services and building infrastructure that can withstand climate challenges.
The signing highlights the ongoing strong cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union, emphasizing shared goals in sustainable development, effective public service delivery, and environmental resilience.
Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, expressed appreciation for the European Investment Bank’s increased role in Pakistan. He also stressed the importance of strengthening collaborative efforts with European partners to meet the country’s key development and infrastructure objectives.
