Pakistan hosts landmark defence talks with US and central Asian Chiefs

RAWALPINDI: On Saturday, Pakistan hosted the Central & South Asia Chiefs of Defence Conference in Islamabad, bringing together senior military officials from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan for crucial security talks.

The high-level conference, themed “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace”, marked a significant milestone in regional military diplomacy, offering an opportunity to foster deeper defence cooperation among participating nations. 

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, warmly welcomed the international delegations, emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and regional collaboration, as per the statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“In today’s world, marked by transnational threats and evolving security challenges, it’s essential to foster stronger military partnerships, engage in strategic dialogues, and build mutual trust,” said Field Marshal Munir. He further expressed Pakistan’s dedication to working with partner nations to create a more secure and prosperous regional environment.

The forum provided a valuable platform for in-depth discussions on various security issues, including counter-extremism efforts, collaborative military training, cyber resilience, and improving interoperability among the armed forces of participating nations. The conference concluded with a collective commitment to bolstering military-to-military relations while upholding sovereignty, security, and regional peace.

Delegates expressed their appreciation for Pakistan’s leadership and hospitality, recognizing the country’s pivotal role in shaping a forward-thinking and inclusive defense strategy for the region.
