ISLAMABAD: Over 2,100 Sikh pilgrims from India have been granted visas by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to join the birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.
These visas were issued as part of the 1974 Protocol on Religious Pilgrimages, a bilateral agreement between Pakistan and India that facilitates visits to religious sites across the border for citizens of both countries.
The festivities are scheduled to take place in Pakistan from November 4 to 13, attracting thousands of Sikh devotees for the annual event.
During their visit, the Sikh pilgrims will have the opportunity to pay homage at several sacred gurdwaras, including Gurdwara Nankana Sahib (the birthplace of Baba Guru Nanak), Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal, and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, a central pilgrimage site in Sikhism.
