ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has introduced its first-ever artificial intelligence (AI) avatar, named Laila, representing a significant milestone in the nation’s journey to incorporate AI into its societal and economic framework.
The official launch was celebrated during a government-organized event, attended by high-ranking policymakers, technology professionals, and prominent industry figures. The Federal Minister for Information and Technology hailed Laila as a groundbreaking initiative, showcasing Pakistan’s determination to advance its AI capabilities.

The event also emphasized the government’s broader AI agenda, which includes plans to train 100,000 individuals in AI technologies by 2030, establish support for 1,000 AI startups, fund 400 university-led projects, and develop 50 industry-specific AI models tailored to different sectors.
