RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces, embarked on an official visit to Libya, during which both nations agreed to strengthen defence cooperation at the level of military leadership.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir was welcomed with a ceremonial guard of honour by the Libyan armed forces upon his arrival.
In discussions with Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, the two leaders reinforced their commitment to advancing bilateral defence ties. Talks centered on enhancing collaboration in areas such as training programs, capacity development, counter-terrorism initiatives, and comprehensive military cooperation.
The leaders highlighted the significance of robust bilateral collaboration to bolster shared strategic and security objectives. Pakistan reiterated its resolve to deepen its defence partnership with Libya, grounded in mutual interests and efforts toward regional stability.
This visit underscores an evolving defence relationship between Pakistan and Libya, reflecting a shared aspiration to establish stronger military alliances in the future.

Additionally, Field Marshal Asim Munir has recently stressed that the Pakistan Army is fully focused on addressing both internal and external challenges, including combating hybrid threats, countering extremist ideologies, and mitigating divisive efforts aiming to destabilize national security.
These remarks were made during his interactions with officers and soldiers at Gujranwala and Sialkot Garrisons. Upon his arrival at Gujranwala, he received an operational briefing highlighting the formation’s readiness and initiatives aimed at enhancing combat adaptability.
The field marshal observed field training exercises and advanced simulator-based training sessions, commending the troops on their high professional standards and exemplary preparedness. He emphasized adapting to modern warfare requirements, which demand agility, precision, situational awareness, and swift decision-making capabilities.
Recognizing their unwavering morale and commitment to safeguarding national security, he underscored the importance of intensive mission-focused training that aligns with evolving operational needs.
During his arrival at the Gujranwala Garrison, the field marshal was welcomed by the Corps Commander Gujranwala.
