Pakistan likely to receive $ 8 billion from World Bank

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan expected to receive $8 billion from the IMF through the Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) Policy Framework.

Pakistan has restarted negotiations with the World Bank for a new four-year program and expected to receive $8 billion from the IMF through the Country Partnership Strategy Policy Framework, with a few major priority areas. This CPS may cover from 2025 to 2029, the policy framework and the actual duration of the CP are yet to be determined in the ongoing negotiations. The CPS could not be finalized from fiscal year 2022 to 2026 as a lot of time was spent on elections and formation of a new government.

The newly ‘elected’ government has negotiated with the international organization for a new CPS so that the standard CPS of four to five years will be obtained in the next two months. For four to five years, CPS will focus mostly on priority areas and discussions are ongoing to finalize the framework for major areas of funding for the next five years.
