Pakistan Mulls withdrawing Families of Diplomats From India

Islamabad (March 14, 2018): Pakistan mulls withdrawing families of diplomatic officials in New Delhi, in connection with rising incidents of harassment by Indian officials and intelligence agencies, said sources.

According to the details, India set aside all diplomatic norms and launched harassment drive against Pakistani diplomats and their families.

Yesterday , a vehicle carrying children of a  Pakistani diplomats was stopped and the children and the driver were harassed. Unidentified men blocked their way and took pictures. Pakistani High Commissioner raised the issue before Indian foreign office.    Pakistan has lodged protest against harassment and intimidation of the officers, staff and the families and children of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi by Indian state agencies.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh was summoned at FO and a strong protest was lodged in this context.

Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Dr. Mohammad Faisal emphasized that under the Vienna Convention, the safety and the security of Pakistani diplomats and their families is the responsibility of the Indian government.

He said that all these incidents continue unabated despite repeated official protests lodged with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs at the highest level.
