ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to providing comprehensive aid and humanitarian support to Indonesia in the wake of devastating floods. He conveyed this message during a phone call with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto today.
In his remarks, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the people and government of Indonesia for the tragic loss of lives and extensive destruction caused by recent floods and landslides, especially in Sumatra.
Demonstrating solidarity, the Prime Minister assured President Prabowo that Pakistan is prepared to assist Indonesia with relief efforts, including sharing its own expertise in managing large-scale flood emergencies, as well as supporting rehabilitation and reconstruction initiatives.
During the conversation, Shehbaz highlighted the shared climate vulnerabilities faced by both nations and emphasized the need for increased cooperation in disaster preparedness, response, and climate resilience strategies.
President Prabowo thanked Sheikh Shehbaz for his condolences and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s solidarity. He also briefed the Prime Minister on the swift and effective measures taken by Indonesian authorities to address the crisis.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister expressed anticipation for the upcoming official visit of President Prabowo to Pakistan scheduled for next week. He remarked that this visit would serve as an excellent opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across various sectors of mutual interest.
