CALIFORNIA (May 17, 2017): A Pakistan-origin US citizen, Dr Asif Mahmood announced to join the 2018 race for lieutenant governor of California.
Dr Asif Mahmood was very hopeful about his nomination by the Democratic Party. If the party nominate him, Asif will be the first Pakistani who will contest for such a big position in the US.
A representative body of Pakistani immigrants in the US conducted fund raising drive for Asif Mahmood yesterday. The organization assured its full cooperation to Asif Mehmood.
Dr Asif Mahmood had said in a news conference in front of the downtown federal building in Los Angeles “President Trump continues to attack people like me: immigrants, people of colour and Muslims.” Mahmood said he did not think his religion would be an obstacle in a state known for diversity.
