Pakistan-origin Rozina khan elected member of British parliament

Pakistan-origin Rozina khan has been elected member of British parliament on the seat vacated by Sadiq Khan. She beat Conservative rival Dean Watkins by 5,700 votes in the by-elections in Toting constituency of London to fill the seat left vacant by Sadiq Khan who was elected Mayor of London recently.

Like Sadiq Kha Rozina Khan too does not hail from a rich and known family.

Sadiq’s father was a bus driver while Rozina’s father is a TV mechanic while her Polish mother used to work at a petrol pump. By profession Rozina Khan is a junior doctor.

Ayaz Khan had been getting elected for the parliament from the same constituency by 2000-5000 votes. Rozina has beaten her rival than a much bigger margin than Sadiq’s.

Postpoing her victory speech Rozina paid tribute to British legislator Jo Cox who was killed in an attack yesterday.
