SOUTH KOREA (Gumi): Pakistan’s athletes are eyeing a strong medal haul in the javelin throw final at the Asian Athletics Championship 2025, scheduled for today.
The final promises excitement as Olympian Arshad Nadeem and 2023 Asian bronze-medallist Muhammad Yasir Sultan both advanced after impressive performances in the qualifying round on Friday morning.
Arshad Nadeem, a leading figure in the competition, enters the final as a prominent contender, though the event’s notable absentee is India’s Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra.
Japan, which topped the medal table two years ago, remains a strong contender, while Singapore’s Shanti Pereira aims to replicate her sprint double success from Bangkok in the same championships.
This year’s event features over 2,000 athletes representing 43 countries, competing in Gumi for the first time since the 2005 edition held in Incheon.
The Championships continue to be a significant gathering of Asia’s top athletic talent, with Pakistan hopeful of adding to its medal tally in the javelin throw.
