Pakistan ready for war if talks with Afghan Taliban fail: Khawaja Asif

SIALKOT: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif addressed the media in Sialkot, stating that Pakistan has previously fought a war with India and now faces a second proxy war initiated by India through Afghan channels.

He claimed that Afghan elements, influenced by India, are attempting to cause unrest within Pakistan. However, he emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces remain vigilant along the borders.

Highlighting Pakistan’s security situation, Asif noted the absence of unusual activity at border areas over the past four days, which, according to him, underscores the effective safeguarding of national boundaries by the Pakistani Army and law enforcement agencies.

He paid tribute to the martyrs whose sacrifices have ensured the country’s safety and remarked on how army and police personnel continue to risk their lives daily to maintain peace.

Asif addressed maritime disputes with India, asserting Pakistan’s firm stance on such issues. He warned that if diplomatic efforts fail, the possibility of direct conflict cannot be dismissed.

Reflecting on regional dynamics, he highlighted Pakistan’s past hospitality towards Afghan refugees over four decades, expressing disappointment that certain Afghan factions now allegedly serve India’s interests against Pakistan.

He added that Afghan representatives he had met in Doha had spent their formative years in Pakistan.
