ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has formally summoned the Afghan Deputy Head of Mission to lodge a stern protest concerning terrorist activities emanating from Afghan territory.
Expressing strong condemnation of an attack carried out by Khwarij affiliated with Kharji Gul Bahadur Group on a Pakistani military installation in North Waziristan, Pakistan’s Foreign Office underscored its serious concern over the ongoing support and facilitation by the Afghan Taliban regime for groups like the Fitna-al-Khwarij and TTP.
The Foreign Office highlighted that such backing enables these terrorist organizations to launch attacks against Pakistani military and civilian targets along the border regions and beyond. It was reiterated that the environment in Afghanistan, which appears to tolerate or support these groups, contradicts Afghanistan’s international commitments and its promises to Pakistan not to allow its territory to be used for hostile activities.
Pakistan has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into these incidents, demanding decisive action against those responsible and those providing support. The Pakistani government urged the Afghan Taliban to take concrete, verifiable steps to dismantle all terror networks operating from Afghan soil, including their leadership, and to prevent future use of Afghan territory for terrorist acts against Pakistan.
Pakistan also reaffirmed its right to defend its sovereignty and citizens, warning that it will take all necessary measures to counter terrorism originating from Afghan territory.
Pakistan’s Military Leader Issues Stark Warning to the Taliban
On December 8, 2025, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, General Asim Munir, delivered a firm message to the Afghan Taliban, stating that they must choose between supporting the Khawarij insurgents or maintaining relations with Pakistan.
In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir addressed officers from all branches of the armed forces, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to peace but also its resolve to defend its sovereignty.
He warned against provoking Pakistan’s patience, asserting, “Pakistan is a nation committed to peace. However, no challenge to our sovereignty or territorial integrity will be tolerated, and our resolve should not be tested.”
