ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly dismissed what it termed as “provocative and unfounded” remarks by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar regarding the country’s state institutions.
A day earlier, the Indian foreign minister had claimed that India’s primary challenges with its neighbour were directly linked to Pakistan’s armed forces.
Responding to these comments, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andarabi said Pakistan “categorically rejects and condemns” the misleading assertions made by the Indian minister.
He emphasized that Pakistan is a responsible and sovereign state, and that all its institutions, particularly the armed forces, serve as key pillars of national security and are fully committed to defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Referring to the May 2025 conflict, the spokesperson said the episode clearly reflected the professionalism and unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s military in protecting the nation. He added that no propaganda campaign could undermine this reality.
The Foreign Office further accused India of systematically attempting to malign Pakistan’s leadership and institutions as part of a broader disinformation campaign, aimed at deflecting attention from New Delhi’s own destabilising role in the region and its alleged involvement in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan.
According to the spokesperson, such hostile rhetoric exposes India’s lack of genuine commitment to peace and stability in South Asia. He also urged India to introspect on the growing influence of Hindutva ideology, which he said has resulted in mob violence, extra-judicial killings, arbitrary detentions, and the destruction of religious sites.
The spokesperson added that India and its leadership appear to be gripped by extremism under the guise of religion. He concluded by reaffirming that Pakistan remains committed to peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomacy, while standing fully united and determined to safeguard its national interests and sovereignty.
