Pakistan secures second consecutive victory in Under-18 hockey Asia Cup, defeats Sri Lanka 9-0

DAZHOU: Pakistan continued its impressive run in the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup 2025, claiming a dominant 9-0 victory over Sri Lanka in their second group stage match.

The Group A match took place in Dazhou, China, where the Pakistani side started aggressively, scoring four goals in the first quarter alone. Abdullah Awan opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by Zubair Latif, who doubled the lead just a minute later.

In the 7th minute, Ehsam Haider converted a penalty corner to make it 3-0, and shortly after, Atif netted Pakistan’s fourth goal.

Pakistan continued to dominate in the second quarter, with Ehsam Haider adding two more goals, both from penalty corners, completing his hat-trick. The third quarter saw Adeel score twice in quick succession, while Atif Ali added his second goal in the 44th minute to seal a comprehensive 9-0 victory.

Pakistan’s defense remained solid throughout, denying Sri Lanka any real scoring opportunities. The Sri Lankan side managed to earn only two penalty corners in the entire match but failed to convert either.

With two back-to-back wins, Pakistan now tops Group A and is set to face Bangladesh on Tuesday in their next match. Earlier, Pakistan had defeated Hong Kong in their opening match of the tournament.
