RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed 13 militants during five intelligence-based operations carried out in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, troops conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Bajaur District, where they engaged a militant hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, five militants were killed.
In two separate encounters in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, security personnel neutralised three more militants.
Meanwhile, during two additional engagements in Khyber and South Waziristan, forces eliminated another five militants, bringing the total number killed in these operations to 13.
Security officials also recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, who were reportedly involved in various terrorist activities in the region.
The operations come as Pakistan continues to address security challenges along its border with Afghanistan. The armed forces reaffirmed their determination to safeguard the country’s borders and maintain peace.
ISPR added that sanitisation operations are ongoing in the affected areas to ensure no remaining militants are present. These actions are part of the broader counter-terrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, the statement said, will continue their efforts to eliminate foreign-backed terrorism from the country.
