ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that Pakistan aims to establish joint ventures to leverage Malaysia’s expertise. During a joint press conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and during his first visit to Malaysia he thanked the Malaysian leaders for their warm reception and expressed that Malaysia feels like a second home to Pakistan
He praised Anwar Ibrahim for his significant contributions to Malaysia’s development and noted their previous interactions as milestones in bilateral relations. The discussions focused on strengthening ties and addressing global issues, with Shehbaz stating, “This visit will strengthen mutual ties.”
He also highlighted the importance of the Palestine issue and mentioned that many Pakistani students are studying in Malaysia. Shehbaz welcomed Malaysia’s decision to import $200 million worth of halal meat from Pakistan and expressed a desire to expand halal meat trade.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remarked that Pakistan and Malaysia share a close relationship that has developed since 1957, with increased cooperation in trade. He noted discussions with Shehbaz on regional peace and security, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to achieve stability, particularly regarding the situation in Palestine. Anwar Ibrahim stressed that peace between Pakistan and India is essential for regional stability and that Malaysia will support efforts to combat terrorism.
GUARD OF HONOR
Upon arriving at the Perdana Putra Complex, Prime Minister Shehbaz received a guard of honor before his meeting with PM Anwar Ibrahim.
During his three-day visit to Malaysia, he was warmly welcomed by Anwar Ibrahim. The national anthems of both countries played, and Shehbaz inspected the guard of honor from the Malaysian armed forces.
