Pakistan slams Taliban claim of violating temporary ceasefire

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has rejected allegations made by a spokesperson of the Afghan Taliban accusing it of breaching a temporary ceasefire, describing the claims as baseless and misleading.

In a statement issued from Islamabad, the Ministry of Information said that no violations of the pause in Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq had taken place. Officials emphasized that the accusations lack credibility and appear to be rooted in misinformation.

The ministry further suggested that such narratives may be an attempt to justify militant activities or could even stem from internal divisions within the Taliban’s ranks.

Authorities reiterated that while the ceasefire remains in place, any terrorist attacks or incursions across the border will be dealt with decisively once the temporary halt concludes.

The pause in operations was observed in light of Eid al-Fitr, following requests from countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar. Officials confirmed that the suspension will remain effective until midnight on March 24.
