Pakistan strongly opposes “Greater Israel” plan at OIC moot

JEDDAH: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Israel’s Greater Israel plan threatens regional peace and Pakistan firmly rejects the proposal.

Addressing the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Ishaq Dar emphasized that Israeli atrocities in Gaza are blatant violations of international law. He mentioned that over 60,000 Palestinians have been martyred at the hands of Israel.

He expressed gratitude to Turkey and Iran for convening the emergency OIC summit, condemning the collective punishment inflicted on Palestinians. Attacks on hospitals, schools, and refugee camps are against international laws.

Dar highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Palestine, especially the famine crisis, and called for immediate measures. He urged the international community to take steps toward a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.

He reiterated that Israel’s Greater Israel plan is a threat to regional stability and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unequivocal rejection of it. Pakistan supported the joint statement issued by 31 Arab and Muslim countries, emphasizing that a two-state solution remains the only pathway to a sustainable peace in Palestine.

Furthermore, Dar announced that Pakistan has proposed seven immediate measures, with a permanent ceasefire at the top of the list. He called on the United Nations Security Council to take strong actions against Israel. Pakistan will continue to actively advocate for Palestine’s right to self-determination as an observer member, rallying international public opinion in support of this cause.
