ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that Pakistan will host the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in 2027, urging officials to initiate swift preparations for the prestigious event.

The announcement was made during the foundation stone laying ceremony for Islamabad’s T-Chowk flyover on Friday, where the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing the city’s infrastructure and visual appeal ahead of the summit.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed his intention to make Islamabad more attractive for visiting dignitaries, mentioning that Tajikistan had generously gifted a variety of plant species to Pakistan. Under the supervision of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, projects such as a proposed rail car service are being developed to improve transportation connectivity between the twin cities. The federal government has pledged full support to ensure these travel arrangements are seamless and efficient.
