Pakistan to present budget for the new fiscal year on June 02

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to announce its national budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on June 02.

Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will kickoff from today. Sources indicate that policy-level discussions with the IMF commenced earlier today, focusing on fiscal reforms and expenditure controls.

The IMF has emphasized the need for Pakistan to implement strict measures to curb non-development expenditures, aiming to bolster the country’s fiscal stability.

Additionally, the international lender has set a revenue target of 20 trillion rupees for the next fiscal year, a significant increase from approximately 17.8 trillion rupees projected for this year.

These developments come as Pakistan seeks to secure financial support and stabilize its economy, with the upcoming budget reflecting priorities aligned with IMF guidelines.

The government is expected to announce measures to boost revenue collection and streamline expenditures to meet the revised targets and ensure fiscal sustainability.
