ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi met with Graeme Biggar, Director General of the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA), on Thursday in Islamabad to discuss expanding bilateral collaboration in critical areas of security and law enforcement.
The meeting included notable attendees such as British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, the National Coordinator of NACTA, the DG of NCCIA, the DG of the National Forensic Agency, the Additional Secretary of the Interior, the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, and the IG of Islamabad Police.
Comprehensive discussions were held to strengthen cooperation in key areas like counter-terrorism, narcotics control, combating human trafficking, advancements in forensic sciences, immigration oversight, and police training. Both sides agreed to extend mutual collaboration through specialized training programs for Pakistan’s anti-narcotics and law enforcement personnel.
A pivotal decision was reached to enhance coordination efforts aimed at tackling online child exploitation. The representatives also concurred on broadening bilateral assistance concerning extradition procedures.
It was announced that five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering extradition and other cooperative sectors between Pakistan and the UK are expected to be finalized soon.
Graeme Biggar expressed condolences for the lives lost in a recent suicide attack in Islamabad and strongly condemned the incident.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s steadfast determination to combat terrorism, pointing to its roots in neighboring regions. He reiterated that the world must acknowledge Pakistan’s resilience and commitment in the fight against terrorism.
Naqvi further underscored the importance of modern forensic tools and advanced training in enhancing the effectiveness of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies. He also mentioned ongoing measures, in collaboration with the UK, to tackle illegal immigration comprehensively.
Graeme Biggar lauded Pakistan’s efforts in countering narcotics and reaffirmed the NCA’s dedication to continued collaboration with the Pakistani government across various domains.
