Pakistan, WI to face off in second Test today

BRIDGETOWN: Pakistan and West Indies will play the second cricket Test of three-match series at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown today.

Pakistan is on the brink of recording their first ever series victory in the Caribbean after claiming an emphatic win in Jamaica. Earlier, Pakistan had defeated West Indies by seven wickets in the first Test at Jamaica. It is pertinent to mentions here that Pakistani bowler Yasir Shah played vital role in the first Test. He took two wickets in first innings and six in second that’s led to award him Man-of-the match. Whereas the 39-year-old Younis joined the 10K league in his 116th Test match against host West Indies in Jamaica on the third day of the first Test.

The match is scheduled to begin at 07:00 pm (Pakistani Time) on Sunday. West Indies’ squad is unchanged from the one that fell to a seven-wicket defeat in Kingston.

West Indies squad (possible): Kieran Powell, Kraigg Brathwaite, Jermaine Blackwood, Shai Hope (wk), Roston Chase, Vishaul Singh/Shimron Hetmyer, Shane Dowrich, Jason Holder (capt), Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph, Shannon Gabriel

Pakistan could stick to the side that won the first Test, even though Misbah-ul-Haq did say they would consider the possibility of playing two spinners. That would also give them a fifth bowling option, so necessary in an attack that relies on three fast bowlers.

Pakistan (possible): Azhar Ali, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah

The weather forecast for the second Test is better than the it was in Kingston, even though rain is expected on the fourth and fifth days. The surface in Bridgetown is generally hard and fast, and if it is overcast, the toss could assume great importance.
