FAISALABAD: Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first against South Africa in the opening ODI of the three-match series at the Iqbal Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
In ODI history, Pakistan and South Africa have faced each other 87 times, with Pakistan securing 34 victories, South Africa winning 52, and one match ending without a result.
Pakistan will look to sustain their winning momentum after claiming the T20I series 2-1. Despite recent ODI series losses to New Zealand and the West Indies, the hosts will be motivated to turn the tide and seek redemption against the Proteas.
On the other hand, South Africa, buoyed by their recent ODI series win over England, will aim to carry that confidence forward and avenge their defeat in the T20I series.
