Pakistani, Italian Prime Ministers voice grave concerns Over Lebanon Violence

ISLAMABAD: In a recent phone conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which they addressed the fragile situation in the Middle East and the ongoing ceasefire efforts.

During the discussion, Meloni commended Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives that contributed to the US-Iran ceasefire and the renewed dialogue between the two nations. She also congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on hosting upcoming peace negotiations between the US and Iran in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s sincere commitment to regional peace and stability. He welcomed a joint statement issued by prominent global leaders, including Meloni, which expressed support for Pakistan’s peace efforts. Both leaders expressed deep concern over the continuing violence in Lebanon.

The two dignitaries agreed on the importance of international cooperation to prevent further conflict and to foster enduring peace and stability across the region.

French Foreign Minister Calls Ishaq Dar

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, received a phone call from France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Friday.

Barrot extended his congratulations to Pakistan for its role in facilitating the initial ceasefire agreement and voiced support for Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic endeavors aimed at achieving lasting peace and regional stability.

Both officials expressed alarm over recent ceasefire violations in Lebanon and stressed the necessity of full adherence to the ceasefire agreement. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, boosting economic and trade cooperation, and agreed to maintain open lines of communication.
