Lahore: The Jamat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeem Saturday, today, condemned Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians, labelling them “genocide“.
Addressing a news conference in Lahore, he said that Saturday’s strike across Pakistan demonstrated the nation stood by the Palestinian people.
Naeem stated that Israel and India are at the forefront of “state terrorism”.
He urged the Pakistani government to advocate for the cause of Kashmiris on the global stage.
Referring to the recent Pahalgam incident, the JI chief stated that India’s “drama” has been exposed to the world.
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, he said that India cannot unilaterally terminate the agreement, as the World Bank stands as its guarantor.
Almost all shops and major markets remain closed, with business activities suspended in several cities, including Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Charsadda, and Peshawar.
Traffic on the roads is significantly lighter than usual, and lawyers have also boycotted court proceedings.
Protest rallies are being held in various areas to show support for the people of Gaza.
Murree, Peshawar, Pakpattan, Gojra, Kamalia, Kot Addu, and Tando Muhammad Khan witnessed complete shutter-dow n strikes, with almost all businesses and markets closed.
Areas like Mal Road, Cantt Market, Bhurban Market, Aliot, and Phagwari in Murree were completely deserted.
In Peshawar, major shopping hubs including Qissa Khwani Bazaar, Ashraf Road, and Khyber Bazaar remained shut, while Pakpattan saw the closure of all commercial centres and markets.
