Pakistani victims of Somali pirate attack shifted to hospital

GAROWE: The bodies of three Pakistani nationals killed in a shooting involving Somali pirates, along with several injured crew members, have been shifted to a hospital in Garowe, Puntland, as arrangements are being made for their repatriation.

Three Pakistani crew members and an Indonesian national are currently under treatment at a local hospital, while other crew members who sustained minor injuries have also received medical attention.

The injured Pakistanis have been identified as fourth engineer Usman Ghani, Aqeel Khan and Amin bin Shams.

Diplomatic officials from Pakistan, India and Indonesia have reached Garowe to assist their respective nationals and coordinate the repatriation process.

Officials from the Pakistani mission in Djibouti have also arrived at Garowe City Hospital, where the seriously injured crew members are being treated.

Crew members with minor injuries were provided first aid and stitches, while the bodies of those killed were placed in the hospital morgue.

The shipping agency confirmed that both the deceased and injured crew members had been transferred to the hospital following the incident.

The bodies and surviving crew members will be repatriated after completion of the required medical procedures and travel clearances.

Sources said the shipping agency would coordinate arrangements for transporting the bodies and crew members once all necessary permissions had been secured.
