Pakistan’s Food Exports Reach Record High for Fourth Consecutive Month

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s food exports experienced a remarkable year-on-year growth of 12.77% in October, with the total value of exports reaching $748.4 million

According to the detail, Rice exports saw a significant boost of 19.03% compared to the previous year, with over 604,000 metric tons shipped abroad. These rice exports generated an impressive $362.3 million in foreign exchange.

Vegetable exports also surged by 23.38%, with around 56,000 metric tons exported, bringing in over $19.3 million. Similarly, fruit exports rose by 20.30%, with approximately 54,000 metric tons of fruit sent overseas, contributing more than $24.4 million in foreign exchange.

A standout performance was observed in tobacco exports, which saw an extraordinary increase of 565% year-on-year, with 6,238 metric tons exported in October. This resulted in $28.3 million in foreign exchange earnings.

Additionally, Pakistan exported more than 88,000 metric tons of dried fruits in October, generating $94.7 million in foreign exchange.

Over the first four months of the current fiscal year (July to October), Pakistan’s total food exports increased by 21.73%, amounting to $2.365 billion. This continued growth underscores the resilience and expanding reach of Pakistan’s food export sector.
