ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima has said Pakistan’s technology sector is witnessing strong growth, driven by the skills and potential of its young workforce.
She expressed these views during a visit to Huawei’s Global Service Center in Islamabad.
The minister said Pakistani IT professionals offer a competitive combination of quality and cost, making the country increasingly attractive in the global technology market.
She highlighted the sector’s expanding role in Pakistan’s services economy, saying IT has emerged as an important contributor to economic activity and a significant source of foreign exchange.
According to Shaza Fatima, Pakistan’s IT exports are increasing at an annual rate of around 20%.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to meeting the Prime Minister’s $25 billion target for IT exports and further strengthening the country’s digital economy.
Highlighting the longstanding ties between Pakistan and China, the minister expressed hope that Huawei would continue expanding its operations and investment in Pakistan.
She said greater collaboration with leading Chinese technology companies could further support the growth of Pakistan’s IT sector and create opportunities for its young workforce.
