ISLAMABAD: According to the latest release of the Henley Passport Index 2025, Pakistan’s passport is currently ranked 96th among 199 countries, reflecting its relative travel restrictions and visa-free access.
The quarterly update, compiled by Henley & Partners—a London-based firm specializing in global citizenship and residency advisory—shows a significant shift in global travel freedom. Notably, the United States, which once held the top spot in 2014, has now fallen to the 10th position, marking its lowest ranking in two decades.
The index considers data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and evaluates how many countries passport holders can visit without a visa or with visa-on-arrival.
The US’s decline means it is now outranked by 33 other nations, as the index groups countries with the same score together, resulting in a total of 33 countries ahead of the US.
Pakistan, along with Somalia, shares the 96th position, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 32 countries. Meanwhile, Singapore continues to lead the rankings as the most powerful passport for 2025, allowing its citizens visa-free travel to 193 out of 227 destinations worldwide.
As the second half of 2025 unfolds, these rankings highlight ongoing shifts in global mobility and travel privileges for passport holders across the globe.
