ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Sohail Adnan has won the British Junior Open Squash Championship.
Sohail Adnan defeated Egypt’s top-seeded player Moiz Tamir Al-Maghazi in the Under-13 category final after a thrilling five-game match. At one point, Sohail was trailing 1-2, but he made a remarkable comeback to win 3-2 and claim the title.
The final score in Sohail Adnan’s victory was 5-11, 11-5, 11-6, 7-11, and 5-11. This is the first time in 18 years that a Pakistani player has won the British Junior Under-13 final.
The last time a Pakistani player won the British Junior Under-13 title was in 2007, when Nasir Iqbal claimed the trophy.
On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi congratulated Sohail Adnan for winning the British Junior Open Squash Championship and said that Sohail’s victory has brought pride to Pakistan. He added that by winning the British Junior Open Squash after 18 years, Sohail Adnan has raised the green and white flag, and his victory is a great honor for Pakistan.
