Pakistan’s worst performance in Women’s World Cup, PCB decides to dismiss head coach Mohammad Wasim.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed head coach Mohammad Wasim following the national women’s cricket team’s dismal performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup. This marks one of the team’s most disappointing campaigns in the tournament’s history.

The PCB has announced that the search for a new head coach is already underway, emphasizing its commitment to bolstering women’s cricket in the country. Officials have stressed that serious efforts will be made to strengthen the team and ensure better results in the future.

Mohammad Wasim, who was appointed as head coach of the women’s cricket team in 2024, had been granted significant authority in his role. However, under his leadership, Pakistan failed to secure a single victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The team played four matches, losing to India, Australia, South Africa, and Bangladesh, while three of their fixtures were abandoned due to rain.

All seven of Pakistan’s matches were scheduled at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium, further highlighting their inability to make an impact during the tournament. The PCB has pledged to learn from this experience as it works towards rebuilding the women’s cricket program.
