Islamabad (May 17, 2017): The meeting of the joint investigation team (JIT) constituted by Supreme Court as per its verdict in the Panama Papers case started at Federal Judicial Academy here on Wednesday.
The JIT is expected to finalize the questionnaire comprising questions to be asked from Prime Minister and his children during the team’s investigation.

All the six members of the JIT are participating in the meeting. Sources said that after recording the statements of the accused, the Team would take a decision about obtaining evidence and certified documents from abroad.
They added that the team will contact the concerned ministries if it decide to obtain evidence from abroad. They added that Pakistan had no agreement with UK, Saudi Arab, and UAE for mutual assistance.
It is to be motioned here that on Tuesday the JIT had sought television interviews and statements of the Sharif family.
The JIT had asked the Press Information Department to submit a summary of the prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Hussain Nawaz, and Maryam Nawaz’s statements and TV interviews.
During its previous meetings, the JIT had reviewed records of NAB reference in Hudaibia Papers Mills sent to the JIT by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The declarations of assets and others details of Prime Minister and others submitted by Election Commission of Pakistan to the JIT were also reviewed.
The JIT had also deliberated over the procedure to obtain certified documents from abroad.
The JIT had already obtained record of the asset declarations of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his son-in-law retired Captain Mohammad Safdar from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from ECP.
According to the JIT’s terms of reference, it is mandated to probe how the Gulf Steel Mill come into being; what led to its sale; what happened to its liabilities; how did they reach Jeddah, Qatar and the UK; whether Hussain and Hassan Nawaz had the means in the early 1990s to possess and purchase the London flats; whether the sudden appearance of the letters of Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani is a myth or a reality; who, in fact, is the real and beneficial owner of the Nielsen Enterprises Ltd and Nescoll Ltd; how did Hill Metal Establishment come into existence; where did the money for Flagship Investment Ltd and other companies set up/taken over by the son of the PM come from; and where do the huge sums gifted by Hussain Nawaz to Nawaz Sharif come from.
The apex court has already empowered the JIT to summon Prime Minister Sharif and both his sons, as and when required.
