Panama JIT head seeks FIA, Private Sector experts’ assistance

Islamabad (May 08, 2017): Head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted by Supreme Court to probe money trail of Sharif family in Panama scandal, Wajid Zia, on Monday sought assistance from Federal Investigation Agency and private sector’s experts.

As per details, Wajid Zia has written a letter to Director General FIA, seeking a panel of officers of the agency to assist the JIT in the high-profile investigation.

In the letter, Zia has sought a panel of competent officers having expertise in investigation of money matter.

Sources said that Zia would pick names from the panel for assisting the team. The JIT will also acquires services of experts from private sector too.

Earlier in the day, Zia held meetings with SSP Security and DG of Judicial Academy before the start of formal proceeding of the team.

Additional Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wajid Zia, who is heading the JIT, met SSP Security Jameel Hashmi at the Academy, who briefed him about security of the JIT members. During the meeting, SOP for security of the JIT was worked out. Later, Wajid Zia also called on Director General Judicial Academy.
