Islamabad (May 09, 2017): The Joint Investigation Team constituted by Supreme Court to investigate Sharif family’s business dealings aboard started its first formal meeting at Federal Judicial Academy .
The JIT is being headed by Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Additional Director General Wajid Zia. The members of the JIT have reached Judicial Academy, the newly-allocated secretariat of the team, where the first meeting of the team commenced.
On Monday, the members of the JIT visited the Judicial Academy and get briefing on security and other related matters.
Wajid Zia had also written a letter to DG FIA seeking a panel of officers of the agency to assist the team in its probe.
It is to be mentioned here that PTI has demanded that the inquiry into the assets of the Sharif family should not be held in camera
On May 4, a three-judge special bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, had announced the composition of the six-man team.
Led by FIA DG Zia, the team will consist of State Bank of Pakistan officer Amer Aziz, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Executive Director Bilal Rasool, National Accountability Bureau’s Balochistan Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi, retired Brig Mohammad Nauman Saeed of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Brig Kamran Khurshid from Military Intelligence (MI).
