Panamagate Case: Hearing adjourned till tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of Panamagate  case till tomorrow.

Counsel of one of the petitioners PTI Naeem Bukhari concluded his arguments today while Shaikh Rasheed, the counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami Taufiq Asif, and the counsel of the prime minister Makhdoom Ali Khan also argued their case. Makhdoom was still arguing when the court adjourned the hearing.

The court is hearing the case on daily basis.

Imran Khan, Jehangir Tarin, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Shaikh Rasheed were present in the court.

Bukhari continued arguing when the hearing was resumed today saying that there are contradictions in the statements of teh prime minister and his children. Under the law information has to be provided about bearer certificates because they are not prize bonds which whosoever has owns the offshore company.

The implementation of law record of bearer certificates all the way upto transfer of flats has to provided while Sharif family has also to prove that certificate is being held by the Qatari family, he added.

Arguing himself Shaikh Rasheed said that the Qtari’s name was first heard in the helicopter case. The letter of Qatari prince is rescue 1122 for Nawaz Sharif but it is without affidavit and things heard are no proof while under the law the oral evidence should be direct. The Sharif family is hiding behind the Qatari letter, he added.

Shaikh Rasheed further said that the contracts of LNG and Port Qasim Power projects were given to Saifur Rahman’s company and the real face behind the case is that of Saifur Rahman. This is a case of one family against 200 million people, I have no children but this nation is my family, you haven taken oath to deliver justice, the eyes of the masses are on the court.

The court expressing anger Shaikh Rasheed’s arguments said that this Supreme Court and not a place for political speech. Apologizing to court over this Shaikh Rasheed said that he has no experience of law and that he offers his apology.
