Parliament can’t be strengthened if PM did not attend its session: Gilani

MULTAN: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that how the parliament could be strengthened if the Prime Minister did not attend its session.

Addressing lawyers at Multan District Bar, Gilani said that even President Mamnoon Hussain would have dismissed the incumbent government had the Presidential powers under 58-2 B had not been scrapped.

He said: “whatever democracy we have today is due to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed”.  He claimed that during PPP’s tenure Parliament was superior and the institutions were strong.

He added that after his election as Prime Minister he had issued the first order to restore the sacked judges, because BB shaheed had promised to hoist Pakistan’s flag at the residence of then chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry.’

He added that his attendance of Parliament’s session as Prime Minister was a record.

Gilani said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will come to the Parliament by winning election.
