Passenger plane crashes in Cuba, 39 killed

HAVANA: A Cuban passenger plane crashed near the western province of Pinar Del Rio and all the 39 people on board were reportedly killed on Saturday night.

According to the details,  the Antonov An-26 aircraft owned by Cuban airline AeroGaviota came down in Las Lomas de San Cristobal. Local media said that the area is difficult to access by land.

Local media reports suggest that everyone on board has died in the crash although officials are yet to confirm the number of fatalities. The plane taken off from the country’s Baracoa Airport which regularly offers domestic flights.

A Cuban aviation source said, “The area is difficult to access by land, and the preliminary report is that there are no survivors.”
