Patients Suffering Aggravates As Doctors Continue To Protest In Multan

MULTAN: Patients across the district are suffering as OPD’s are closed despite the arrest of the accused involved in attacking Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nishtar Hospital here on Thursday.

However, the attacker who attacked pro-vice-chancellor of Nishtar medical college was arrested on February 9 by the police.

Earlier on Sunday, the story of firing aimed at Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nishtar Hospital of Multan has taken a twist as the man who injured him has claimed that Pro VC was treating her wife for cancer despite the fact that she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis (TB).

On late Saturday night, Head of Cancer Disease Department and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nishtar Medical University Dr Ahmad Ejaz Masood got injured in an attempt on his life after a man opened fire aiming at him.

He got shot twice on his right leg. He was abruptly admitted in Nishtar hospital in the emergency ward where he was operated. The suspect, however, fled the area after injuring Dr Ahmad Ejaz.

Later, in a video message, the offender who shot Pro VC made a startling revelation. He said, “Dr Ejaz Masood did the wrong treatment of my wife. She was a TB patient whereas the VC treated my wife for cancer”.

Suspect Faisal, in his video message, alleged Dr Ejaz Masood for taking money from the family by calling them for treatment in a private hospital instead of government one.

Faisal added that when Pro VC sensed that the patient’s health was worsening, he shifted her back to the government hospital so that his own hospital does not get defamed.

During these altercations, my wife lost the battle with TB and died, Faisal said.

“When I protested, I was told by him [Pro VC Dr Ejaz Masood] to do whatever you can”, said the bereaved husband Faisal in his video message.

While admitting to injuring the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faisal said “I did not fire at him to take his life but to teach him a lesson. If I wanted to kill Dr Ejaz, I would have killed him”.
